Intersection of Wiri Station Road and Langley Road, Manukau
Formerly a basalt rock quarry from the 1940s until the late 1990s when the reserve was exhausted, Wiri North Quarry was used to stockpile fill materials from the greater Auckland area. In 2013 concerted efforts began to backfill the remainder of the quarry. Since 2013, approx. 920,000m3 of fill material has been placed, with the bulk of the material sourced from the Water View Connection project. In 2017, Hick Bros began rehabilitating the quarry for its repurposing into 5 industrial lots, with completion due in January 2019.
