Hick Bros Civil Construction has undertaken the rehabilitation of the former Three Kings Quarry through six distinct contracts, focusing on bulk earthworks and civil construction. The development's scope encompasses the creation of 1500 homes, a sports field facility, and a town center in Auckland Central. Operating in close proximity to the public posed a key challenge, especially when installing a 900m rising main through existing footpaths, vehicle crossings, and active roads. Extensive stakeholder management began with community letter drops to address concerns.

The project also faced material challenges due to the site's history as a quarry, encountering significant hard rock and contaminated materials. Managing the import of diverse materials for the substantial fill volume required close attention. Handing over the project in stages necessitated meticulous planning to coordinate with builders and various contractors, ensuring seamless overlapping duties. Regular coordination meetings with all PCBUs (Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking) were crucial to maintaining safety, quality, and program integrity throughout the project stages.
